Heading into the same Decatur Twain Shopping Center once occupied by Japanese Cuisine by Omae and its limited seating omakase menu, two new Japanese concepts are on the way.

Yet to be confirmed, or announced, the 1,262-square-foot space is expected to be the latest venture from the Mon Restaurant Group, the restaurant empire behind Monta Ramen, Sushi Mon, Ramen Kobo and Kabuto Edomae Sushi.

This would be the first kaiseki, multi-course Japanese dinner concept for the company.

And taking over the shuttered 1,390-square-foot Omae space a few doors down, Samurai BBQ is much closer to a debut, with interior work almost finished and new signage due soon. Also keeping its future menu and opening hours under wraps, guests can expect yakiniku grilling at each seat, a sake collection and VIP dining room.

Tomi Ramen & Sake Bar now occupies 1,432 square feet at the Paseo Plaza, a neighbor to Soho Sushi Burrito, the Hawaiian menu of Maui Rose and the former home of Landry’s Seafood House.

Featuring counter-service and table seating, the Tomi appetizers include $5 takoyaki, $6 fried baby octopus, $5 chicken karaage, and $6 soft shell crab.

Ramen dishes are all priced at $8.50, and diners have the option of a tonkotsu, shoyu, miso, or vegetable base with chashu, chicken breast, and tofu ingredients prepared at levels of “zero” all the way up to “super spice.”

Extra toppings and rice bowls can upgrade any meal and hot sake is available in $4 and large $7 servings.

Sapporo Revolving Sushi pioneered the Las Vegas automated sushi dining experience last December and a new rival is set to debut soon, just under a mile to the west.

Konbea Belt Sushi will become the first dining tenant inside the very distinctive, white box-shaped mixed-used building at 5645 Spring Mountain Road. So far, the Konbea team has kept many details under wraps, but the new exterior signage is up and the restaurant is hiring, promising sushi will be delivered around the space on a high-tech conveyor belt.

Opening hours or an exact arrival date have yet to be announced.

Sapporo’s conveyor belt delivered selections are priced as low as $2.50 and for dishes that need to be cooked to order, diners use an iPad to further automate the process.

The restaurant will next be applying the technology to a barbecue concept. Master Kim’s Korean BBQ is also touted as “coming soon” to the Durango Arby Plaza, close to the intersection of Durango Drive and Arby Avenue in Spring Valley.

An already big year for the Mon Restaurant Group now includes the surprise arrival of a “super premium matcha salon,” directly facing Mon’s own Kabuto Edomae Sushi and a short walk from the company’s Monta Japanese Noodle House.

Taking over suite 6, next door to the Sagos Tavern, Chamon Matcha Salon sits at the intersection of Spring Mountain Road and Hauck Street, in Chinatown’s famed Seoul Plaza retail center. In the works since last September, Spring Mountain experts W G Constructors are part of the interior overhaul.

Currently hiring and announcing a July 27 debut, Chamon will serve “premium Matcha products such as freshly brewed green tea, soft serve ice cream and much more!”

The finely ground matcha will be imported from Uji, a Japanese city south of Kyoto renowned for “producing the best quality matcha in the whole wide world.”

Opening hours and a full menu are yet to be revealed.

Mon Restaurant Group relaunched its shuttered Monta Chaya tonkotsu ramen restaurant in the southeast earlier this year and new concept Tekka Bar–Handroll & Sake will become part of the Cosmopolitan‘s under construction Block 16 Urban Eatery & Bar later in the fall.
